At Barnehurst, we feel it is important that children have an equal say in the the development of their education and their school.
The children learn, through the curriculum, all about the fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect, tolerance and the rule of law. During our most recent 'WOW' day, the children learnt about each of these values and the meaning of them within Britain and within our school. As a result of this work, the children asked if they could form their own Pupil Governing Body through a democratic process. The election of the Pupil Governors was completed in Autumn 2016 and this team now holds a direct resposibility for representing pupil views and organising the spend of the Pupil Governing Body budget. They have been elected again this academic year and our latest team can be found in the link above.
We are very proud of our Pupil Governors and all they achieve for the children at Barnehurst!
