Moving from Barnehurst Infant School to Junior School
Although Barnehurst Infant School and Barnehurst Junior School are part of the same Federation, they are two separate schools. This means that all children moving into Year 3 must apply for a Junior School place, including those already attending Barnehurst Infant School.
We understand how important it is for children to feel settled, secure and confident as they move into the next stage of their education.
That's why our Junior School admissions arrangements give priority to children who attend Barnehurst Infant School, helping to support a smooth and positive transition within our Federation.
Our Junior School has its own admissions criteria, which are different from those used for admission to our Infant School. Children already attending Barnehurst Infant School are placed higher within the Junior School's oversubscription criteria, giving them an advantage when places are allocated.
For our existing Infant School families, this means that your child's attendance at Barnehurst Infant School is recognised and prioritised when you apply for Year 3.
While places cannot be automatically guaranteed, we hope this provides reassurance as you plan the next stage of your child's school journey. In addition to this children in the junior school count as a sibling link if you are applying for a child in the infants.

You don't need to attend Barnehurst Infant School to apply for a place at Barnehurst Junior School!
We warmly welcome applications from children attending other infant schools and are always delighted to welcome new families into our community. Applications from other schools are welcomed and considered in line with our published admissions criteria.

Applying for a Year 3 Place
Applications for Junior School places are managed through the London Borough of Bexley, rather than directly by the school.

Please remember that children attending Barnehurst Infant School must also complete an application. Places do not transfer automatically between the two schools.
